Great service and an added bonus on the fuel price since we were doing a rescue flight for Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue. There was an ongoing EAA event but I must say the ground team was flawless keeping the flow of planes organized.
The airport provides a pilot lounge with a mini-kitchen and television. A variety of restaurants are within close driving distance and overnight accommodations are plentiful.
Crew cars available for pilots to use in the local area. A reservation may be needed, and restrictions may apply. Please contact FBO prior to your flight to make any necessary arrangements for use of a crew car.
The Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) classify OKV as a
general aviation regional airport. Regional airports serve multi-jurisdictional areas, have facilities and
services that accommodate most general aviation aircraft, and have a published instrument approach.
Winchester Regional Airport can support many humanitarian purposes including: air ambulance flights, medical evacuation flights, patient transport services, and organ transport services. Additionally, general aviation airports are often used for search and rescue operations, disaster relief, emergency flight diversions, firefighting response, law enforcement services and other critical functions supported by government agencies such as the Post Office, Forest Service, Marshals Service and Customs and Border Protection.
