Please remember that all requests for mailboxes go through the post office on Pleasant Valley Road at (540) 545-7957. Contact them for new mailboxes or lost keys. You should notify the post office at lease one week prior to moving to Shawneeland. To request a new mailbox or a replacement key, the USPS will need:
Daytime telephone number,
Names of people who will be authorized to pick up the keys (photo ID will be required to pick up keys),
Names of any people who will be receiving mail at this address,
Whether the house is a new or existing home.
It is necessary to obtain a driveway permit from the Shawneeland Sanitary District Office prior to issuance of building permits for all new homes in Shawneeland. Shawneeland does not have a water and sewer system to offer as a public utility. However, there is a privately owned water system available in certain areas of the subdivision. The system is owned by Aqua America. For questions and/or comments concerning the water system, contact Aqua America's service department at 1-877-987-2782 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All homes located within the subdivision are dependent upon individually owned drainfields. For questions and/or comments about drainfields, contact the health department at (540) 722-3480 or visit the Virginia Department of Health's web site.
Fishing permits are required and shall be issued on a yearly basis. Please provide the owner's name, lot and section number when obtaining a fishing permit from the SSD office. Also for Shawneeland residents to enjoy there is Cherokee Beach, a beach pass is not required at this time and there is a list of beach regulations posted at the beach. There is also 2 playground's and a 4-hole golf course located within Shawneeland.
