PUBLIC NOTICE

Board of Equalization
COUNTY OF FREDERICK

Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization (BOE) for the County of Frederick will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing and recording complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage pertaining to the 2019 general reassessment of all real property. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the BOE will give consideration and either increase, decrease, or affirm such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or legal agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment by proving that the property is not uniform or equitable with other similar properties, the assessment has an error in fact, or the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value. Taxpayers must, by law, bring or attach supporting documentation of their claim at the time of their hearing or written appeal.

Appointments are required to attend a hearing and will be scheduled every 10 minutes to minimize waiting. Please call 540.722.8319 (ask for “Reassessment”) between 9 am and 4 pm, and by no later than Thursday, June 6,2019 to schedule an appearance before the BOE.  Hearings will be held in the Frederick County Administration Building at 107 North Kent Street, 1st Floor.

Dates and times for the 2019 calendar year BOE hearings are as follows:

Thursday
June 13
9 am to 12 noon
Friday June 14
9 am to 12 noon

Each set of hearings will be followed by a one-hour work session. Final decisions will be made and are open to the public in the Frederick County Boardroom on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.  No secure information, such as rental income, will be made public.

Multiple time slots may be allocated to appeals of more than one parcel or commercial and industrial properties.

BY ORDER OF THE CHAIRMAN, FREDERICK COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
