A servicemember's vehicle may be exempt from local taxation in any State other than your State of legal residence if:
servicemember is on full-time active duty in the military service absent from his/her state of residence or domicile
motor vehicle is:
normally garaged, stored, or parked in the County
registered in Virginia or any other jurisdiction
required documentation is provided (see form below).
Under the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act (PL 111-97), a qualifying spouse can also qualify for vehicle exemption (whether the vehicle is co-owned with the servicemember or owned individually by the spouse) if spouse:
shares domicile with an exempt military servicemember,
resides in the County in order to live with the servicemember, and
documentation is provided (see form below).
