Mr. Oates was elected in November 2025 and his term ends in December 2029.

Oates represented the Stonewall District on the county’s Planning Commission for 16 years and has served as chairman of the Frederick Water board since 2016. He grew up in Frederick County and is president of GreyWolfe Inc., a land surveying and civil engineering firm. He also is a part-time Realtor at Long & Foster Real Estate.
