Frederick County is now producing podcasts where the public can learn about Frederick County Government and government functions and services. Through our podcasts listeners will meet staff and learn about the jobs they hold and how they serve the citizens of Frederick County.
County Public Information Officer, Karen Vacchio had the idea to explore podcasts and “worked with a great group of Service Learning students back at the beginning of the year. They came up with the concept, the format, the logo, the jingle, researched what equipment we would need, the whole nine yards! We were looking for an additional outreach tool and the students nailed it.”
Podcasts are at their height of popularity, giving listeners the ability to stay current on all types of topics without having to take time to watch a video or read an article, book, or blog. Podcasts are the dream medium for multitaskers. According to Brandtastic, a recent study showed that while 49% of podcast listening happens at home, 22% happens while driving, 11% at work, and 8% while exercising.
The County currently has six tracks up covering topics from transportation to foster families to recycling. You may listen to the podcasts on the County website at www.fcva.us/podcasts or via Soundcloud and, as the tagline says, “All you have to do is…listen!”
