WINCHESTER, VA, October 8, 2019: Frederick County’s Fall Shred Fest, an opportunity to safely destroy old personal documents free of charge, will be held Saturday, November 2, at its new location, Sunnyside Plaza Shopping Center, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Frederick County residents may bring up to three boxes of paper documents for destruction at no cost. Those taking advantage of the shredding service will be asked to unload their own papers and take their bags and boxes home for recycling and reuse. Community groups and small businesses are encouraged to participate. Those with more than three boxes should contact the vendor for service. No Documents of Destruction will be issued.
It is not necessary to remove staples, paper clips or rubber bands. However, spiral notebook wires, three-ring binders and electronics are not permitted. The truck will remain on site until 1 p.m. or when the truck reaches capacity, whichever comes first.
Iron Mountain, Inc., will offer free on-site document destruction to residents via its mobile shredding unit. The shredder truck will be stationed at the corner of Fox Drive and North Frederick Pike in the former Food Lion parking lot.
Cub Scout Pack 3 of Winchester will sell hot dogs and refreshments. Residents are encouraged to bring a gently used stuffed animal for the county’s Once Upon a Child recycling program which donates stuffed toys to local children in need.
Event will be held rain or shine. More information may be obtained by calling (540) 665-5643, ext. 1 or visiting the web at www.fcrecycles.net.
