Ground Breaking Ceremony
WINCHESTER, VA, September 27, 2019: On Wednesday, October 16, members of the Fire and Rescue Departments of the City of Winchester and Frederick County, along with government officials, will gather to recognize the groundbreaking of the Winchester Regional Fire and EMS Training Center.
Winchester Fire and Rescue Chief William Garrett said, “Although ground is broken and construction is underway, we felt it was important to recognize the ongoing collaborative relationship between our two localities.”
The new building will benefit both localities and, as noted by Frederick County Fire and Rescue Chief Denny Linaburg, “The new building gives the departments a greatly improved educational platform allowing us to train for situations that the former building would not allow and perform multiple drills at the same time.”
The ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the site of the new facility at 1716 Woodstock Lane. The public is invited to attend.
