Transportation Committee Plans Fourth Annual Transportation Forum
WINCHESTER, SEPTEMBER 26: The Frederick County Transportation Committee is planning to hold the Fourth Transportation Forum on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
The format for the forum will be slightly different than in past years. There will be no formal question and answer session; instead citizens will be able to engage one-on-one with elected officials and transportation staff from various agencies. “We wanted to provide citizens the opportunity to talk face-to-face with those in attendance who can best answer their questions or provide information to address concerns,” according to Kris Tierney, County Administrator. “We want to provide information about transportation projects in Frederick County and the potential impact those projects may have on people’s day-to-day activities.”
John Bishop, Assistant Director, Transportation, will present a brief presentation at the beginning of the meeting regarding Frederick County Transportation Projects and Procedures. “I want to make sure people have a good understanding of the process we go through for planning and funding transportation projects here in Frederick County and the Commonwealth of Virginia,” explains Mr. Bishop. “It’s a very competitive process to apply for funding from the state and I hope to enlighten our citizenry about this procedure.”
The forum will take place this year at Winchester Regional Airport at 491 Airport Road, Winchester. Please address questions or the need for special accommodations to the Planning Department, 540-665-5651. Doors open at 6 p.m.; presentation from Frederick County Transportation Staff at 6:30 p.m.; gallery opens at 7 p.m. for conversations with officials, staff, and representatives from various agencies.
