Fall Shred Fest is one of the best community services in town. It provides safe and secure paper document destruction; it’s convenient and it’s free.
Protect your identity and the environment at Frederick County’s annual Fall Shred Fest which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Sat., October 13.
Records Management Solutions, Inc. will offer free on-site document destruction to residents via its mobile shredding unit. The RMS truck will be stationed at 1057 Martinsburg Pike in the Shockey Companies parking lot.
“Our April event drew a record number of participants, despite unseasonably cool temperatures,” said Gloria Puffinburger, the county’s solid waste manager. “At the end of the day, we destroyed and recycled 16,280 pounds of paper.”
Shred participants are encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable food items for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and gently used children’s books to benefit the Little Free Library. Donation boxes will be located in the refreshments area.
Anyone is welcome to participate. Simply bring five boxes of any size of paper documents for destruction at no cost. Additional boxes will be shredded for 10 cents per pound. Businesses are also encouraged to attend. The business rate will be a flat fee of 10 cents per pound. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips or rubber bands. Forms of payment include cash, check, VISA and MasterCard.
