Investigators with the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal's Office with assistance from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office have arrested and charged an individual with multiple arsons overnight in the College Park subdivision.
On May 4, 2025, approximately 11:35 PM Frederick County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 106 Purdue Dr. While Fire and Rescue were responding to this emergency. Frederick County 911 also dispatched a large vehicle fire at 121 Princeton Dr. Frederick County Fire and Rescue quickly extinguished both fires and secured the scenes for the arrival of the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office to investigate the origin and cause of the fires. The Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the origin and cause of both addresses and has ruled out all accidental and natural causes. Both fires are classified as arson.
A Sheriff's Deputy was the first to arrive at 106 Purdue Drive and contacted the residents and was provided with a suspect description and direction of travel. While units were searching in the area along the direction of travel. A unit from the Fire Marshal's Office encountered a subject fitting the description laying down and partially concealed in a wooded area behind 1095 Millwood Pike. Backup units from the Sheriff's Office arrived and, with additional information from the Assistant Fire Marshal on the fire scene, the suspect was taken into custody and charged by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office with two counts of arson and additional charges are forthcoming.
The Frederick County Fire Marshal's office with assistance from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating all the fires. Further details may be released at a later time.
