In the early morning hours of April 29th, 2025, approximately 3:00 a.m., Frederick County Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire at the corner of Duner Court and Kinross Drive in the Raven Wing subdivision. When Fire and Rescue arrived, they found a 4-door pickup truck with a fire in the cargo bed. The engine crew quickly extinguished the fire and contacted the on-call Assistant Fire Marshal to investigate. When the Assistant Fire Marshal completed his origin and cause investigation it was determined to be arson.

Later the same day at approximately 7:00 a.m. Frederick County Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at 124 Kinross Drive in the Raven Wing subdivision. The 911 caller/resident stated that they could smell smoke. Upon Fire and Rescue’s arrival they reported a fire at the rear of the structure. They quickly extinguished the small smoldering fire and called Frederick County Fire Marshal’s office to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The fire started close to ground level next to an exterior wood frame basement wall. The Fire Marshal's office has ruled out all accidental and natural causes therefore this fire is also classified as arson.

During the investigation at 124 Kinross Drive the Fire Marshal's office canvassed the neighborhood and discovered four additional fires on the exterior of structures that self-extinguished and were unknown to the residents of the homes. Three fires were in the 100 block of Kinross Drive and one additional in the 200 block of Dewberry Drive.

The Frederick County Fire Marshal's office with assistance from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating all these fires. Further details may be released at a later time.

The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office is requesting the assistance of the public with this ongoing investigation. Please check any security cameras from Tuesday, April 29th from 1 a.m. – 4 a.m. to see if any activity was recorded. We are also asking you to do a thorough walk around your house and vehicles to inspect them for any fire damage.
