Parks and Recreation Plans Input Meeting for Sherando Park
The Parks and Recreation Department is holding a Public Input Meeting on Tuesday, May 31, 2015 6-8 p.m. at the Sherando High School Parks and Recreation Community Center.
Concept master plan maps will be presented at the meeting. “We’re excited to present these concepts to the public after receiving so much great input,” according to Jon Turkel, Park and Stewardship Planner for the department. “This event will give us the needed perspective to see which concept best meet expectations for what Sherando Park will look like in the future.”
The plan update area consists of approximately 200 acres, much of which is undeveloped. Existing amenities in this area include parking, two softball fields, two soccer fields, an 18-hole disk golf course, three miles of mountain bike trails, and 1.25 miles of paved shared-use path. The Sherando Park Master Plan is intended to guide planning and development to meet the needs of current and future Frederick County residents.

Sherando Park Master Plan
Frederick County Parks and Recreation is in the process of creating a master plan for the area of Sherando Park north of Rt. 277. This process will update the last Sherando Park master plan, completed in 2002. At this time we are primarily looking to determine which of the two plan options best reflects the interests of the community. Other comments are also appreciated.
