April event protects personal data and the environment
This year's Spring Cleaning Community Shred held Sat., April 7, posted a record 325 participants and a total of 16,280 pounds of paper recycled, also a new record. This effort helped conserve 138 trees, nearly 57,000 gallons of water and 578 gallons of oil in addition to saving energy and landfill space.
Cash and food donations made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank will provide 512 meals. Approximately 200 used books were donated to the Little Free Library.
The event was made possible through the support of several local businesses.
