Frederick County Launches New Public Education Campaign: Did You Know
In recognition of Local Government Education Week here in the Commonwealth, April 1 – 7, Frederick County Government has launched a new public education campaign called “Did You Know?”
This campaign is designed to help the public learn more about County departments and the day-to-day activities conducted by County staff. County Administrator Kris Tierney calls this “an effort to help educate the public about the numerous and varied functions of our departments and agencies, to help everyone understand the scope of Frederick County Government and to also put faces on our local government.”
The campaign will be largely web-driven with posting of information to the home page of our website and we will utilize the County’s various social media sites as well. Short videos featuring staff members talking about their area of expertise which will be featured and will also run on the County’s Cable Channel (Comcast Channel 16) and the County YouTube Channel. (see links below)
Public Information Officer Karen Vacchio says, “this campaign will continue after Local Government Education Week wraps up and we’ll be taking the public on some field trips, if you will, to visit parks, the animal shelter, the landfill – wherever the information takes us!”
